16th Congress of ISECS

The Congress of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ISECS) is the world’s largest meeting of specialists on all aspects of the eighteenth century which takes place every four years.

This year (2023), the conference was organised by the Italian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, and hosted by Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. The Congress theme was 'Antiquity and the Shaping of the Future in the Age of Enlightenment', which was perfectly in line with the spirit of a city, Rome, that embodies the dialogue between Antiquity and Modernity in the eighteenth century.

Our president, Prof. Sutapa Dutta, gave a plenary talk  on 'From Kohinoor  to the Hitopadesha: The Making of Tangible and Intangible Indian Antiquities'.
